The increasing competition, high demand of accuracy and
reliability of the result Forensic laboratories
are tending toward ISO certification to prove the
reliability of the test result. Most of the government
funded forensic or other laboratories outsourced the
forensic work from a commercial organization. In
order to avail an international standard for these
laboratories nowadays, more government laboratories
are seeking for an international standard that provides the reliability
and confidence to the test result
produced.
The European Union Council Framework Decision 2009/905/JHA
issues that the government
laboratories need to get certified with the ISO 9001 Saudi Arabia to
gain confidence and prove
reliability of the work employed in the testing and
calibration procedure. The special focus made on the
DNA and fingerprint laboratories for the accreditation to be
completed by 2013 for DNA labs and 2015
for forensic laboratories.
Simultaneously increasing legislation around laboratories
providing service to government organization
forcing public laboratories to gain accreditation in order
to prove the reliability of the result produced.
The standard also addressed to expend substantial cost in
maintenance of the standard. An emerging
trend in the accreditation process noticed with the use of
electronic quality and records management
systems in order to minimize the financial impact of the
accreditation process. The use of electronic
product aims at the reduction of manual error and loss of
data caused during the testing process.
Along with the ISO certification companies are also seeking
for other standards to improve their working
procedure and throw an impactful image over their clients.
These addition standards that companies are
more inclined include improving quality in physiological
diagnostic services’ (IQIPS) programme, etc. The
standard consist of four domains requirement for the
accreditation process which includes Patient
Experience; Facilities, Resources and Workforce; Safety and
Clinical.
Thus, both government and private laboratories are tending
to get the ISO Laboratory
certification. The Accredited laboratory result is more
reliable and accepted on an international
platform. Any laboratories performing the testing and
calibration operation should get the certification
in order to prove the reliability of the result and
procedure employed in producing the high accuracy
result. The organization outsourcing the testing procedure
relies mostly on the accredited laboratories.
The standard is also increasing its significance among the
forensic laboratories due to the demand of the
high accuracy in the result increasing the legislation
intervention. The standard also aims at the
improvement of testing and calibration methods in
laboratories across the world.
